Is this a multiplayer or singleplayer mod?
This is a multiplayer only mod.

Is this game free?
Yes, but it requires an install of Half-Life 2 MP and Source SDK Base (Can be downloaded for free with HL2).

Where can I go to learn how to play?
We have a great Player Guide set up which you can find either Here, or in your install folder.

What kind of game modes are there?
Currently the mod features Booty (pvk_island and pvk_forgotten), Booty Tag (pvk_saints, pvk_fort and pvk_temple), Territory (pvk_desertruin) and Team Deathmatch (pvk_arena). Others planned for future releases include: Pillage, Siege, Slay the Dragon and more.

What are the game modes about?
In Booty mode you must steal chests from your opponenets and sometimes various locations in the map, then bring them back to your base to score points. In territory your team must hold the territory to score points. In Booty Tag, there is one chest in the map and a player from your team holds onto it to score points.

Will there be any new classes in PVKII?
Yes, in later builds we plan to have 6 classes per team.

  • Pirates: Skirmisher, Captain, Sharpshooter, Freebooter, Swashbuckler and 'Ealer.

  •
  • Vikings: Berserker, Huscarl, Gestir, Seio-Kona, Jarl and Bondi.

  •
  • Knights: Heavy Knight, Archer, Man-at-arms, Assassin, Cleric and Lord.

When these new classes are added, there will be a Classic PVK mode option to enable only the original PVK's classes.

Why are there only 2 classes per team?
This is a public beta. More classes will be added in future releases as a lot of time and work goes into creating them.

What classes are next?
We're working on the Pirate Sharpshooter, Viking Gestir and Knight Man-at-arms for next release. No dates set yet for when the next release will be.

Why does my PVKII lag?
Most of the choppy lag is caused server-side. Try playing with the tickrate and other variables. If this doesn't help you may need to lower your game settings.

What is a good server limit?
15-18 players is ideal for a fun PVKII match. More players is welcome if the server can handle it, however too many players and the game becomes quite a bit chaotic (Although still fun!)

Weapon/Class X seems too weak/strong. Why?
Although in some situations one class excells over another, all six are balanced for combat. If you're having trouble with a class try playing it a bit different as there's a bit of strategy to the combat. Game modes will also be balanced out as more classes are added.

What teams does PVK II have? Can we be expecting any new ones?

PVK is Pirates, Vikings, and Knights! Not Pirates, Vikings, Knights, Ninjas, Samurai and mutated hamster walruses (Although the hamster walruses are being considered).

What kind of environments will we see in maps?
Across Medieval Europe, the Viking northlands, Caribbean, areas from myth, legends and more.

What will the atmosphere be like in PVKII?

When I play PVKII on a map that's misty... I want to feel and smell the precipitation!
